Southpoint Church reached out for help designing a brochure. After an initial meeting, we realized they didn’t have a cohesive look from which to draw for this project—and that’s where I came in. First, we did a deep dive into who they are: a small inclusive church that values radical hospitality, deep roots, creation, and connection. Equally as important, we defined who they aren’t. One thing was clear: while they wanted a cohesive image, they didn’t want to feel more corporate than human, more polished than genuine. Even the word “brand” felt uncomfortable for this grassroots community. With this in mind, we set out to create visual language that brought their many parts together without compromising their roots.
Our main goal was simple: design a brand that conveyed welcome, invitation, and wide inclusion while drawing on their values of creation and gathering. They had previously worked with a local artist, Joy Banks, who had created a gorgeous custom linocut for this community. Inspired by its shape and structure, we designed a simplified and more versatile logo and brand. We chose colours that were both warm in tone—conveying welcome—and natural, honouring this client’s sense of kinship with all creatures. Though their budget was humble, we were able to leverage their resources to equip this community with a cohesive look for emails, print projects, church slides, and a forthcoming website. With this new look, I’m confident Southpoint can communicate their cause to the world without compromising who they are and what they stand for.
"Daniela was incredibly prompt, highly responsive to feedback, solutions-oriented, creative, and a joy to work with. To this day, Sanctuary receives complements on the quality of our branding. More recently, we undertook our most complex multimedia project to date. Daniela was our top choice for graphic design, and we were thrilled when she took on the project. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for accomplished, aesthetic, functional design. "
"I run a small creative agency, but we don't have an in-house designer. I have hired Daniela to create multiple logos and brand designs for our clients. She does incredible work and is able to translate the unique vision of each company into compelling design. I can't recommend Daniela enough."
"Daniela gave life to my brand. I had a few ideas of how I wanted my business to show up in the world, but it was not until Daniela guided me through a discovery process that I could see a clear expression of what my ideas could look like. She brought a growth mindset to our work together and gave me the space and the incentive to dream about possibilities that I could not see before. Quilombo would not be what it is today without Daniela."
"Daniela was amazing to work with! She not only took the time to learn about my business but also asked insightful questions about my business philosophy to come up with a brand that encompassed what I hope my clients are able to know and feel about my service. She was also incredibly gracious to walk through different options and tell why an idea I had about the logo might not work. I’m beyond happy with the brand she designed and I get compliments on it whenever people see it."
